Gold Funds

Gold Funds or Gold Mutual Funds are trading vehicles that you can invest in and these can act to store your investment or can be sold to earn profit. Most people prefer to invest in gold as it is a highly volatile commodity. Gold funds can provide a hedge against geopolitical crisis or inflation. These act well against currency downfall. Due to the ever increasing demand of gold, its spot price has been increasing day by day. Any long term investment  is surely going into a complete profitable trade.
Gold Funds are categorized in two basic classes. Physical gold, commonly called gold bullion is available in commodity markets, in the form of Bars or Coins. Gold bars are more pure and are available in variable sizes. These are good for traders as these include less fabrication costs, are more durable and are available on lesser premium. Gold coins have, otherwise, their own benefits. Some coins are rare and historically important. These are called numismatic coins and their value is a lot higher than the actual value of gold in these coins.
Gold ETFs or in layman terms, virtual gold, is a fund or index that is closely related to the spot price of gold, and has its assets invested in the shares of gold mining or manufacturing companies. These days, some companies that own gold, have pledged into this business of gold stock index. Gold ETFs are of two types. Gold price index is the one, in which the index tracks the actual spot price of gold and is solely dependant upon it. This type of investment is far better than buying gold bullion as you do not have to care about owning physical gold, shipping or storing it safely. You can do it from the comfort of your home. The other type of gold ETF, the gold stock index is the one, in which the assets are involved in a conglomerate of many gold dealing companies. This is a stock market business and involves all of the aspects of a typical stock market. Except that it is relatively safe, the assets being involved in the conglomerate of different companies, so that if one loses its value, others are there to protect your investment.
